DESCRIPTION:The African Paddy Rice Research Group (PRRG) is holding its introductory annual meeting on 26 September 2023. The meeting‘s theme is “Overview of rice production practices for low emission outcomes”. The discussions will focus on how African countries can work together by sharing experiences of good practices for rice cultivation to reduce emissions. \n\n\n\nThis meeting is invitation only. However\, the APRRG welcomes new members with expertise in this area. SUMMARY:The Future of Rice Contributing to Decarbonization
DESCRIPTION:As part of the upcoming biennial Tsukuba Conference (26-28 September 2023) there will be a session titled “The Future of Rice Contributing to Decarbonization” on 27 September. This session will be moderated by Dr. Yasukazu Hosen\, Co-Chair of the GRA Paddy Rice Research Group\, and Prof. Yu’e Li from the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture\, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences\, who often attends GRA Council Meetings\, and Dr. Valdivia Roberto\, Associate Professor at Oregon State University\, who attended the last Council Meeting in Spain\, will also attend as speakers. At the session\, the following topics will be presented by experts from various fields and discussed as a whole on the future of rice cultivation as it should be. \n\n\n\n1) Ultimate paddy management \n\n\n\n2) Manipulating microorganisms \n\n\n\n3) Viewing from afar (e.g.\, GHG emission estimation through remote sensing) \n\n\n\n4) Estimating and forecasting (e.g.\, through modeling) \n\n\n\n5) Systems that benefit everyone (e.g.\, carbon credit systems) \n\n\n\n6) Ultimate policy \n\n\n\nAnyone who is interested is welcome to attend (advance registration required HERE\, and feel free to share this information with those who are interested.
