Contemplating the Co-Benefits, COP26 Side Event, Nov 2021
Contemplating the Co-Benefits: An exploration of their evidence-base to accelerate climate action.
This Global Research Alliance event was held alongside COP26 on 10 November 2021.
This online event was hosted by Australia as Chair of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases and features a welcome and introduction from Professor Andrew Campbell, CEO ACIAR and Chair of the GRA. Hayden Montgomery, GRA Special Representative presents the work of the GRA as it relates to the topic of adaptation and mitigation co-benefits. Plus we hear from three speakers from across the globe working with the GRA to highlight the value that recognising co-benefits can bring.
Identifying the co-benefits of agricultural mitigation and adaptation practices can exponentially increase the impact of research and innovation activities, leading to accelerated action on climate change – improving the resilience of food systems while reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. But for this to occur, we need to know how valuable different actions are, and what actions can be integrated into emission reduction activities.
Global collaborations are breaking down the barriers to climate action in agriculture by accelerating our ability to recognise and realise co-benefits. Watch the recording to hear from leading researchers about their innovative research activities and listen to an active dialogue between the participants to understand the pathways to pursuing co-benefits in their own work.
