You’ve reached the Global Research Alliance Chile page

Chile’s participation in the GRA began in 2009 with the affiliation of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the technical representation exercised by the Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIA). Since then, it has been a fruitful alliance both in the areas of livestock and rice cultivation. Milestones of this relationship have been the execution of R&D&I projects for the quantification of GHG emissions, the donation of automated equipment for GHG quantification, the creation of the GALA Conference for Latin American countries, the implementation of training courses for GHG quantification for researchers and students from Latin American countries, among others.

The main contribution that countries can make to the Alliance is through the contribution of their specialists in the co-creation of knowledge and innovation to produce more food with lower GHG emissions. Currently, the Chilean delegation to the GRA is represented by a scientific community composed of about fifteen specialists, from various backgrounds, and belonging to five leading research centres and universities. Committed to the collaborative spirit of the Alliance, Chile has been contributing to the governance of the GRA, from the vice-presidency during 2021, and the presidency in 2022.
