Webinar: Implementing circularity in livestock based food systems in tropical islands

March 8, 2022 @ 5:00 am 6:30 am UTC

Join CIRAD – Reunion on 7 March and/or 8 March, 2022, for a webinar titled ‘Implementing circularity in livestock based food systems in tropical islands’.

The webinar is part of a case study on circular food systems (CFS) on tropical islands, carried out by CIRAD with financial support from the GRA CFS Network.

Tropical Islands are generally isolated territories, where limitation of resources and land is more evident. They are often dependent on imports for a large part of their needs and produce only few key resources for exportation. Tropical islands are highly vulnerable to climate change and it is essential to reduce the environmental impact of their food systems (FS). Increasing circularity of FS around livestock production seems a promising way to reduce their carbon footprint. The webinar will dive into a developed methodology to identify livestock based scenarios to increase circularity of food systems, addressing case studies on Madagascar and Reunion.
