The Agricultural Greenhouse Gas (GHG) National Inventory training programme
The Agricultural Greenhouse Gas (GHG) National Inventory training programme provides the foundation knowledge that supports the development of National GHG Inventory’s and assessing of GHG emissions from the agriculture sector. It focuses on introducing participants to climate change science, international obligations, and the science behind agricultural GHG Inventories.
This programme is designed for everyone that has an interest in agricultural GHG emissions, from those who are just interested in building their knowledge, to staff in relevant national agencies tasked with the preparation of their National GHG Inventory for the Agricultural sector. The courses will strengthen the foundation knowledge of participants so that they are better able to understand information released in the media and those using the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports and reporting Guidelines. It is also useful to those wishing to improve their knowledge on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) reporting processes.
You will learn about:
- Climate change science and why it is believed that humans are responsible for climate change
- The role of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the reporting requirements for countries under the various international agreements.
- The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) guidelines for National GHG Inventory reporting
- The science behind agricultural GHG emissions
- The research that is used to measure and reduce agricultural GHG emissions from agriculture.
Currently the GRA website can translate most of the text within the programme into Arabic, Chinese (basic), Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. However, for each new course page the language may need to be reselected. We apologize for this inconvenience. Videos and the final quiz for each course are also currently only provided in English. PDF versions of each course containing further relevant information is available for downloading at the end of each course. These are currently in English, but in the future will be available in Spanish, French and te reo Maori.
The Programme consists of 3 courses, approximately 60 – 90 minutes duration each.
